I sobbed so hard as his classmates and friends walked by his casket, one by one laying down their HT cords (it’s flair for the uniform that you get for being in the band) on top of him. Finally after the funeral was over we start to march back, then I realize that in my grief I had locked my knees and my legs fell asleep. I cried so hard my legs fell asleep while I was standing. Matt was a great kid, and he would have been an amazing man and a wonderful Air Force Officer. And I hope that TIL like this keeps popping up so that people don’t forget what an amazing person he was, or what amazing people any of those heroes were that day.

I’m not sure what it’s like where you are, but here in the Great White North, there is a lot of solidarity between the Black and Indigenous rights movements. Black Lives Matter and Idle No More have collaborated before and their messaging often includes each other’s concerns. Often both groups work together with Pride movements as well.
