College doesn't give you IQ points, it tries to stop ignorance by teaching people to be critical and exposing people to different viewpoints, but you can still pass all your exams by just following the rules and regurgitating class materials. You don't technically need to learn anything or better yourself. What college does do though, in theory, is ensure you have a base level of skills to function in a specific profession. It doesn't prevent people from diverging from widely accepted theories after they go into the workforce, or make people smarter.
