Eh we have old people prisons in Germany and they are very much like retirement homes. It's crazy but most old people don't care for crimes any more. I remember seeing a documentary and the interviewer asked the prison director how often people would try to bail and he's like "I don't think that has happened here".They also followed a guy who was in his 50s and was in his last couple of years from a murder charge (15 years is maximum in Germany) and he would be allowed to go spend the Sunday with his family in the city, no guards and would just return to prison at the end of the day.
